WHAT IS YOUR SKIN'S UNDERTONE?
How does the undertone relate to makeup? Knowing your skin's undertone can help find your perfect match!
Determining your skin's undertone will assist products such as foundation or concealer in evening out the skin tone and making the application blend in perfectly with your skin tone.
What Are the Different Undertones?
There are usually 3 undertones: cool, warm, and neutral.
Cool:
If you have a lot of pink, red, or blue under your skin, you may have a cool undertone.
Warm:
If your skin has a gold, yellow, or peach hue, you may have a warm undertone.
Neutral:
If your skin has a mixture of tones or no distinct undertone, you may have a neutral undertone.
Olive:
If you have mostly yellow, green, or golden undertones, you may have an olive undertone.
Few Tricks for Finding Your Undertone
1. Vein Check
If your veins appear blue or purple on your wrist, you most likely have cool undertones. If they appear greener, you most likely have warm or olive undertones. If you can't tell or have a mix of both, you may have neutral undertones.
2. Sun Exposure
If you notice that you get sunburned easily, you most likely have a cool undertone. If you tan easily, you probably have a warm undertone. If you both burn and tan, you likely have a neutral undertone. If you don't burn or tan, you may have an olive undertone.
3. Compare Your Skin to Stark White
Get a piece of white paper or a white T-shirt have to hold it near your face in natural light. If your skin looks red or pink against the tee or paper, you most likely have a cool undertone. If your skin looks yellow against the white, you probably have a warm undertone. If you have both, you either have a neutral or olive undertone.
4. Try Wearing Silver or Gold Accessories
When wearing golden accessories, and your face looks more flattering, you may have a warm undertone. Those who think silver looks best on them, often mean you have a cool undertone. If you like wearing both, it's possible having a neutral undertone.
